The modern history of urology in Savannah is synonymous with Urological Associates of Savannah. With a single exception, every urologist in Savannah (since the mid 1940's) has had a connection to the UAS family tree, having worked for UAS or one of its precursors or offshoots.

Savannah's first residency trained urologist was Dr. Charles Prince, who arrived in the mid 1940's and was joined several years later by Dr. Peter Scardino to form the Savannah Urological Clinic (SUC). Dr. Irving Victor and Dr. Shaw Su were added in the 1950's and early 1960's.  Dr. Frank Carlton joined the practice in the late 1960's.  In the early 1970's, the group split up and Drs. Victor and Su left to found Urological Associates of Savannah.

In the 1970's, Dr. Samuel Torres and Dr. James Judy joined UAS while Dr. Robert Quattlebaum and Dr. Stephen Michigan joined SUC.

In the 1980's, Dr. Quattlebaum left SUC and founded his own practice and was subsequently joined by Dr. Thomas Shook.  In the meantime, Dr. Richard Mazo joined UAS but subsequently left there and joined SUC.

In the early 1990's, Dr. Michael Funderburk and Dr. David Cheng joined UAS.  Dr. Shook left Dr. Quattlebaum and founded Urology Specialists of Coastal Georgia.  Drs. Victor and Su retired.  In the mid 1990's, Dr. Scardino retired and UAS and SUC merged back into a single practice, keeping the UAS name.  This allowed for the expansion of services including the building of the state of the art Urological Associates main office, the Urology Surgery Center, the establishment of satellite offices in Southeast Georgia and the addition of multiple ancillary services.

In the early 2000's, Dr. Funderburk left to establish Coastal Urology Partners but eventually rejoined UAS.  Dr. Carlton retired.  Dr. Shook was joined by Dr. John Coursey and Dr. Heather Wallace.  In 2016, their practice joined UAS, bringing all of urology in Savannah back under one roof.

Dr. Andrew Michigan was welcomed in August of 2016 and Dr. Coursey moved away in September.

Other urologists that came and went over the years (but belonged to one of these practices listed above) included Dr. Glenn Whitecotton, Dr. Scott Jennings, Dr. Mark Gibbons and Dr. John Soble.
